The key benefits of owning a solar power PV system in Birmingham

Taking full advantage of the Birmingham’s sun

In order to find the best deal on a system in the UK, it is key to understand how a solar PV system can benefit any home or business. The amount of electricity that a solar power system can generate depends on the intensity and duration of the sunshine available to the region in which it is installed.

During an average year, 1 kilowatt-peak (kWp) capacity of solar installed on a south-facing rooftop in the UK will generate an average of approximately 2.35 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per day (as provided by SAP). A 1.5kWp solar system will generate 3.53kWh of electricity; a 2kWp array in the UK will produce about 4.7kWh of energy; a 3kWp yielding 7.05kWh per day, and a 4kWp solar panel setup generating roughly 9.4kWh per day. A 10kW system would produce 23.5kWh, and larger systems even more.

Still a bit too pricey for me, but hopefully some day they’ll come down to a low enough price that they’re more widely available for people like myself. Definitely seems like something that would give a great ROI.

Hi Seth,
Whilst we don’t expect prices to reduce at the rates we’ve seen over the last 12 months any more, there is still further drops to come from solar components. As technological advancement takes us further down the line we shall see the older technologies become cheaper. Bear in mind that the most efficient solar panels being used commercially today still only boast conversion efficiencies of <20%. There is a lot of space to move as the research continues and solar grid parity will continue to drive us forward towards lower prices.
Best regards,
Solar Selections

Dear Seth,

Solar Selections has arranged the best finance package in the UK, which will be of interest to you. The finance is set up so that you pay nothing (apart from a £250 deposit) for a solar install for 12 months. After 12 months you will pay monthly over 2 years to 25 years (you choose), however the finance can be designed so that your tariff income will cover your repayments. Therefore the system will keep you in a cash-flow positive position from day one. Whilst the payments are being made you can still benefit from the free energy produced by your system.

Once the system has paid for itself (8-10 years) you keep all tariffs as normal.

Let us know if you wish to know more.

Best regards,

Solar Selections
